MOBILE, Al. (WPMI) -- Gun laws will be discussed by the Senate Judiciary Committee again this week. Disagreements over tracking sales between private individuals halted committee talks last Thursday.
Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, a member of the committee, said current laws are not enforced as they should be.
“The number of prosecutions have been going down nationally," he said, "So what we really need to do more than just say we're going to pass a new law is to be more effective in targeting the violent criminals and people who have mental illness that are carrying guns."
The Judiciary Committee will meet again this Wednesday the same day as a town hall in Florida organized by Local 15 sister station WEAR-TV. Local 15 News will stream the discussion live on local15tv.com Wednesday night at 7pm.
