MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Mobile County Health Department says there were no new positive cases of tuberculosis after hundreds of students and school employees may have been exposed to the illness when a teacher tested positive.
A 46-year-old teacher at Pearl Haskew Elementary School in Irvington was diagnosed with the illness in January. That's when health officials came to the school and tested everyone that could have been affected.
Monday morning, officials say there were no new positive results. Follow up testing is scheduled in three months.
Last year, there were 13 new cases of TB reported in Mobile County.
