(MOBILE, Ala.) Travis Hawkins Jr., 18, has pleaded not guilty to second degree assault.
He's accused of badly beating Mallory Owens on Thanksgiving Day. Owens is dating Hawkins' sister Ally. Owens was taken to USA Medical Center after the attack, that police say, left her unconscious.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for January.
