GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The murder case alleging a Gulfport man shot another man to death is going to a grand jury without a preliminary hearing.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/YDN1Gc ) 43-year-old Vincent Kermitt Warren is entitled to hear the evidence against him, but waived that right at a hearing Wednesday.

He is accused in the death of Randy Ellis, who died at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport on Sept. 7, an hour after he was shot in the chest.

Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner ordered the case bound over to a grand jury.

Warren remains in Harrison County jail on a $1 million bond.
