ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) - A teen skateboarder speeding down a parking garage ramp was struck and killed when he lost control and fell into oncoming traffic.

Orange Beach Police Chief Billy Watkins Sr. says 14-year-old Hunter Sorensen was wearing safety equipment at the time of the accident Sunday.

Officials say Hunter picked up speed as he came down the ramp, crossed a bike path and veered onto Perdido Beach Boulevard. There was another skateboarder with Hunter, but he was not injured.

The teen - a freshman at Gulf Shores High School - was pronounced dead at the scene and the unidentified driver was not charged.

On Twitter, students and friends are using #riphuntersorensen to remember Sorensen.
