Gulf Convention Hotel: Tourism Boom or Boondoggle?

Bills pending in the Legislature would let the state use money from BP's Gulf oil spill fund to build a conference center and let a private developer build an adjoining hotel.

and will trip ever learn? why cant he avoid those situations whwere even the question of his ethical direction is questioned. he really wasnt "Cleared " in the boom controversy, lets see what kind of scruitiny he faces during the next disaster.

the republicans have been trying for 20 years to build a private venture on our public beach. leave the darn land in its natural state and allow us to have access to it. the sheer lunacy of building a private upscale hotel on public land just doesn't register with me given the private facility in orange beach. we told them the same about the arthur outlaw convention center and old pat kelly said, "What the heck if it doesn't work its only 40 million. meanwhile you still pay an extra cent in tax on fast food to fund that white elephant.

we need to preserve what is left of our natural beaches for our future generations to enjoy. Sadly, there is so little public beaches left that soon only the rich will be able to enjoy them.
