(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) - A casino lobbyist who pleaded guilty to conspiracy will be among the first witnesses in the retrial of Alabama's gambling corruption case.

Attorneys say Jennifer Pouncy is one of two witnesses scheduled to testify for the prosecution Friday in Montgomery.

Pouncy has admitted offering millions in bribes on behalf of her client, Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley, who also pleaded guilty.

The other witness scheduled Friday is a legislative employee.

Lawyers gave their opening statements Thursday.

Prosecutor Emily Rae Woods said casino owner Milton McGregor and Gilley managed a
scheme to buy legislators' votes for pro-gambling legislation.

Defense attorneys said there couldn't be a conspiracy because some of the six defendants never met until they were arrested and taken to the FBI office in Montgomery.
