MOBILE, Ala (WPMI) In honor of Black History Month, members of the Cedar Grove Lodge #628 held a blood drive at the LifeSouth Community Center on Hillcrest Road.
Members say they hosted the drive to raise awareness of the low number of African Americans donating blood.
"I hope I don't need it," said Kenji Fisher, while donating platelets. "But in the event that I do, I would hope that there's someone out there who would be willing to support me by giving blood to save my life, as I would do for them."
While at the blood drive, donors were also asked to sign up for bone marrow donations as well.
