(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) Two popular trails in Baldwin County are about to get a makeover.

Eastern Shore Trail in Daphne and Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail in Orange Beach qualified for the grants. Daphne will add a bridge to the Gator Alley section of the Eastern Shore Trail. Orange Beach will use the money to pave the Cotton Bayou segment of the Backcountry Trail.

“The coastal areas of Baldwin County are among Alabama’s greatest assets,” Bentley said. “Completing these recreational trail projects will make our scenic treasures even more accessible and enjoyable for visitors and residents.”

The grants awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley total more than $161,720. Both trails are designated as National Recreational Trails by the U.S. Department of Interior.
