(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) Alabama's governor says he was not aware that two Alabama State University employees with ties to suspended university President Joseph Silver would be out of a job if the trustees did not approve their employment.
ASU's vice president for business and finance, Edward Patrick, and the senior assistant to the president, Joyce Outler, were notified recently that they no longer work for the university because the trustees did not approve their employment at their last meeting.
Gov. Robert Bentley is a trustee of ASU and attended that meeting Nov. 30. He told reporters Monday that he did not know the impact the meeting would have on the two assistants. The two previously worked with Silver at Clark Atlanta University.
