(GAUTIER, Miss.) The city of Gautier has scheduled two days of celebration for its 35-foot Veterans Tribute Tower going up in front of city hall.

Veterans will toss brass pieces into a furnace on Thursday to begin the casting of the bell. Later Thursday, Mayor Tommy Fortenberry will speak at the pouring of melted metal into a mold for the bell.

Friday ceremonies include the breaking of the bell mold at 8 a.m. Guest speaker will be Capt. Robert Hall of the USS America, an amphibious assault ship under construction at Ingalls Shipbuilding.

At 3:30 p.m. Friday, Gov. Phil Bryant will speak at the dedication ceremony at Gautier City Hall.

The bell tower features four clock dials. The base will include bricks with veterans' names.
