Fort Gaines On Endangered List

(DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala.) March 18 -- Where one of the Gulf Coast's historic sites is in danger. Fort Gaines has been put on the list of most endangered civil war battlefields.

The fort is included in that list because of the ongoing issue of beach erosion on the island.

Fort Gaines is the second Alabama Civil War site to be put on the endangered list. Fort Morgan in Gulf shores was listed as endangered in 2006.
