Former Loxley Police Chief Sentenced
(LOXLEY, Ala.) Aug. 5 - Former Loxley police chief Clifford Bradley Yetter, Jr., has been sentenced to two years of probation for multiple crimes related to his misuse and inappropriate access of confidential computer criminal records, the office of Alabama Attorney General Troy King said in a news release Wednesday.
Yetter, 64, was arrested in April 2008.
He was also fined $2,000 plus court costs and fees after he pleaded guilty to two counts of unauthorized use of a computer to obtain criminal records of individuals through the Law Enforcement Tactical System (LETS) under false pretenses.
Yetter also pleaded guilty
nine counts of willfully obtaining or seeking to obtain criminal records through LETS under the false pretense that it was for official law enforcement purposes. For those crimes, Yetter will be allowed to enroll in a 5-year intervention program. Yetter will avoid further punishment if he successfully completes the program's requirements.
Yetter will not be able to seek another job in law enforcement.
Also arrested in April 2008 was former Loxley municipal court clerk Kay Wilson Hicks.
Hicks pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawfully obtaining or seeking to obtain criminal records under false pretenses from the LETS system in December 2008.
Most recently, Hicks was arrested in June 2009 for theft by deception.
