(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) (AP) July 2 - Floridians no longer will be able to fish for free.
Beginning Aug. 1, residents must have licenses for shoreline saltwater fishing. They'll cost $7.50 plus administrative and handling fees when they go on sale July 15.
Florida previously required only out-of-state anglers to get a shoreline license. The new license will exempt Florida from a pricier federal license requirement going into effect Jan. 1.
The licenses will be sold at county tax collectors' offices and many stores that sell hunting and fishing equipment. They also can be ordered from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission by calling 888-FISH-FLORIDA or online.
