LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - Speaker after speaker at the Republican Party of Florida's largest annual fundraising dinner boasted about presidential nominee Mitt Romney's performance in his first debate with President Barack Obama.
Party Chairman Lenny Curry opened Thursday's dinner by saying Romney is making Obama feel the heat in the race that will be decided next month.
Political observers gave Romney rave reviews following Wednesday's debate, and it was clearly the buzz at the dinner.
But Congressman Allen West warned the group not to let their guard down. The retired Army officer compared the debate to a successful combat mission, and said the enemy may have lost a battle, but he will be angry, study the strategy and come back fighting.
He told the group, "We are still in a fight."
