Fire Puts Families Out of Homes

(SARALAND, Ala.) Dec. 22 - Eleven people will not be able to spend Christmas at home, after a fire Monday morning at the are Northpointe apartment complex off Shelton Beach Road in Saraland. 

Fire officials say everyone made it out safely, however, some families' belongings were damaged by smoke and water.

"We found it on the bottom floor and the exhaust fan in the bathroom. The initial smoke was coming from there and we pulled down the ceiling there and found the fire," said firefighter Andy Anderson.

The families affected by the fire are being put put up in vacant apartments in the complex.  The will not be able to return to their original homes before Christmas.
