(MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.) January 6- Authorities say 10-week old Noah Killingsworth can only breath with the help of a machine.
"It just breaks my heart because he's so little and he's so sweet," sobbed Abbie Hall. She lives across the street from Noah's home and is close to the family. She was once related by marriage to Noah's mother.
"I noticed Sunday at church that his little right hand and his little right foot was twitching," said Hall.
Noah's mom and dad brought him to the hospital the same day. Hall said, "The doctor upstairs said this baby was shook and shook violent."
And soon after, Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says Killingsworth was arrested for child abuse. "Whether or not the wife has any exposure, that's still under investigation," said Cochran.
Killingsworth has at least one prior domestic violence arrest. Hall says she's witnessed his rage against Noah's mother.
Hall said, "He done hit her in the stomach and kicked her and stuff like that. She's had bruises on her."
Reporter Mike Rush asked, "When she was pregnant?" Hall responded, "Yeah."
The father remains behind bars for now and one neighbor NBC 15 spoke to says it's probably for the best.
"Better they caught him than I did, especially if it had been one of my youngins," said Donnie Thing. "The buzzards would have found him."
Killingsworth's criminal record also includes drug arrests.
