MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) More than a year and a half after their son was murdered, James Dean's family sat down with Local 15 News.

Nineteen-year-old James Dean was stabbed more than 20 times at the University of South Alabama. Thursday, a jury found Branden Ajizadeh guilty.

"We thought that the right decision had been reached. We felt like given all the evidence, that was the decision that should have been made," said James Dean, Dean's father. "We can know actually have some, even more closure than we have had. There was some at the initial arrest, but now that there's been some closure, we can have complete closure."

Dean's mother and father talked to Local 15 News, and wanted to thank everyone involved in the case, especially those who had a hand in convicting their son's murderer.

"We just wanted to thank the DA's office, family friends, everyone who just kept us in their prayers and on their minds," Dean added.

Now, the family is left with only memories.

"They have a loss as well. We had a loss permanently. They have a loss in that they won't have day to day contact with their son and loved one anymore. But he is still alive. They can still have physical contact with him. We don't have that option anymore. All we have now is just memories."
