Family: Woman Viciously Beaten Because She is Gay

It would be up to federal investigators to investigate the attack as a hate crime since Alabama hate crime laws do not cover gay and lesbian victims.

I don't think it's only sexuality that plays a part in when a siblings dislikes the partner of another gay sibling. I think the guy is touched in the head in general for fighting somebody he simply doesn't like but we also can't ignore the fact that this happens even with straight couples. It's not about straight or gay as it is about the behavior of an individual towards another.

Its not about Alabama as some would want you to believe. My Father and Brother are both Baptist Preachers and the fact that we have family members that are gay well, means NOTHING! Doesn't change the love we fill for them and ALWAYS will or keep us from being with them or not excepting them. The fact is he beat the snot out of her for no apparent reason other than he doesn't want her with his sister. My Father and Brother and I vote 10 years without paroll.

I personally think that this boy has some deep seated problems in his head. A person that will go to these extremes to satisfy his anger of gays is more than likely gay himself and scared or afraid to admit it to himself or anyone else, especially family. Someone needs to install the fear of God in to this boys head instead of the fear of homosexuality!

This is what the Lord wanted, right? Isn't this the sort of violence that gets condoned on Sunday morning across churches in Alabama? Please don;t try to fake like you cannot tell the link between this sort of violence, and the 2nd class citizenship that Alabama accords to its gay and lesbian family members. Yes, this is related to Gay Marriage because that public hatred and rejection and denial of gay rights is the fuel that privately feeds these heinous behaviors. It was all just a matter of time before something like this happened.

I don't care if it was because she was a lesbian or because she was a ballerina. Any man who beats a woman this viciously should have his ass thrown in jail and buttraped until he learns what it's like to be on the receiving end of an attack you cannot defend yourself from. Total scum.

What do you expect....Half the churches in this town teach that she go what she deserved. As long as lowlife "Pretend" christians preach hate from the pulpit, ignorant little rednecks are going to commit heinous acts such as this. I am a christian, and when I hear a preacher start on a hate the homosexuals sermon, I get up and walk out right in the middle of the hypocrites tyrade. Those who know that those sermons are counter to the teachings of Christ, should grow a pair and do the same.

Err, Ashley Rich is the Mobile County District Attorney. Hallie Dixon is the Baldwin County District Attorney. What other facts in this, and other stories are incorrect?

Information missing or not, is not material. This was an act of violence and it will happen again. People have the right to live a life without fear of intolerance. This punk needs to go to jail for many years to come.
