MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Many families aren't waiting for their loved ones to arrive home. They've decided to meet them in Mobile to take them home instead of them being bused to New Orleans or Texas.
Melanie Martin from Bay Town, Texas, traveled to Mobile to pick up her 10-year-old son Colton and her 13-year-old daughter Missie.
Both kids were on a vacation with their father.
They've told her the horror stories about the stench, the sleeping conditions and the lack of food. She hopes her kids are not scared.
"I'm very scared about that. I worry I'm worried about how are they going to be when they get home," said Melanie Martin.
So many stories will come out of this horrible experience. Mike Padilla and Tim Morgan drove here from Richmond, Texas. They've heard the worst from their wives who are on board the Truimph celebrating what should have been fun filled surprise birthday cruise. They say their wives aren't mad at the cruise line.
"There's always people who will say this is not enough. For us I look at it and say whatever my wife wants. If she wants more then she can ask for more and I'll support her with that," said Tim Morgan.
"Carnival didn't want this fire to happen. We didn't want it to happen. We are going to stay here tonight there's no sense rushing them around you know they cruised for three days now they've been sailing for four," said Mike Padilla.
