(ELBERTA, Ala.) - The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report by the Elberta Police Chief that someone shot at him outside the police station Sunday night.
Chief Mickey Pledger told the sheriff's office that he was getting a file from his car when he saw someone in the backyard area of the building with their back to him. He says when he asked the man what he was doing, he turned around and fired a shot at him. Chief Pledger says he fired back, but the man got away.
Less than a year ago, Chief Pledger says someone threw a cinderblock at the windshield of his moving patrol car. Investigators said they thought the incident was deliberate, but they weren't sure if Chief Pledger was the intended target in that case.
If anyone has information on this latest incident, they're asked to call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 251-937-0202.
