(ELBERTA, Ala.) - The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report by the Elberta Police Chief that someone shot at him outside the police station Sunday night.

Chief Mickey Pledger told the sheriff's office that he was getting a file from his car when he saw someone in the backyard area of the building with their back to him.  He says when he asked the man what he was doing, he turned around and fired a shot at him.  Chief Pledger says he fired back, but the man got away.

Less than a year ago, Chief Pledger says someone threw a cinderblock at the windshield of his moving patrol car.  Investigators said they thought the incident was deliberate, but they weren't sure if Chief Pledger was the intended target in that case.

If anyone has information on this latest incident, they're asked to call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 251-937-0202.

Somebody really wants this guy to leave town. If they can get the projectile that broke the window, maybe it will help them catch this idiot.

There is something about this guy Pledger that is strange. He needs to be polygraphed and checked out further to verify his stories. This doesn't pass the smell test and something else is going on here. This all could be fabricated and staged by the Chief of Police.

After seeing the story at 5:00, I think Pledger is lonelier than the Maytag Repairman!

Crime is everywhere people. Criminals want retaliation, apparently Chief did his job. Praying for the Chief of Police for Elberta that this idiot can be found and prosecuted.

The "assailant" escaped injury because Barney had to retrieve his bullet from his shirt pocket

Here2Long, Mickey Pledger got wind of Summerdale,AL trying to give their Police Department the old 'heave ho' and is alerting the citizens that there is a crime epidemic in Elberta,AL. He must've saw a 'Walking Tall' movie and dreams he is the next Buford Pusser of McNairy County,TN in 1972.

Sounds like Pledger has some issues...or maybe someone really wants him dead! A cinder block through the windshield...a shadowy figure shooting at him? He need to get back on his meds!

Elberta RFD....Perhaps it's some of Briscoe Darling's boys stirring up trouble. I suspect the cinder block being thrown was done by Ernest T. Bass.
