MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Election results are in for the special republican primary election for state senate district 35.

Bill Hightower brought home 2,560 votes. That’s nearly 47 percent.

Jim Barton received 1,656 votes or 30 percent.

Nick Matranga picked up 1,285 votes for 23 percent.

It looks like there will be a run-off March 12th between Hightower and Barton.

No democratic candidates qualified for this state senate seat so the winner of the republican primary will win the seat.

The district 35 senate seat was vacated by Ben Brooks when he was elected circuit judge.
