OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) The Okaloosa County Commission will meet Tuesday to consider the sheriff's request for more money to fill 26 vacant positions.

Sheriff Larry Ashley placed deputies in every school in the county after the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy. He had to pull deputies from departments like Beach and Marine Patrol and Traffic Enforcement.

The commission must decide whether to hire more deputies or operate "as is" with some depleted departments.

That meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
