(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile Police arrested a man while discovering more than $100,000 worth of silverware and jewelry stashed in his home.
53-year-old decorator William Issac Arledge was charged with three counts of theft of property first degree, and could face more charges when the victims come forward to claim their stolen items.
Cpl. Christopher Levy said Arledge was arrested when investigators were completing a search warrant on his home. There, Levy said, investigators found silver platters, watches, tableware and even trophies possibly linking him to a slew of thefts.
"We received the reports about a week ago started our investigation after receiving several reports of stolen items," Levy said, "Very, very expensive items, especially some silver."
Levy said Arledge got his hands on all of the priceless items working as a decorator.
"He would actually get recommended to the victims as a decorator," Levy said, "So they would invite him into their homes, and then he would then steal from them."
Levy said many people do not know that their precious keepsakes are missing. Those who recognize William Arledge, have done business with him or find any of the stolen items familiar are asked to contact Mobile Police at (251) 208-1201.
