FORT MORGAN, Ala. (WPMI) A dead dolphin discovered on Fort Morgan has been sent to Fort Walton Beach for tests.
Experts say humans may be to blame for the dolphin's death. Scientists at the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge will perform a necropsy.
Wildlife experts say there have been cases where fishermen harm dolphins that are interfering with their catch.
"To do anything that causes harm to the animal, whether it's throwing something at them shooting at them, or doing any other kind of action like putting loud noises in the water, that's not the best solution," said Steve Shippee with the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refugee.
Late last year, more than a dozen dolphins were found mutilated on beaches from Alabama to Louisiana.
Harassing marine mammals is illegal, punishable by fines or even jail time.
