LAWRENCE COUNTY , Ala. (AP) - A man was killed after losing control of his vehicle while being chased by law enforcement officers. His five-year-old daughter was in the car during the chase and crash, but police said she didn't suffer life threatening injuries.

30-year-old Gregory Johnson of Danville died when his vehicle hit a tree and he was ejected.

State troopers said the chase began after Lawrence County sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle on Alabama 24 east of Moulton at about 9 p.m. Saturday. Troopers said the driver sped away as officers were checking his identification. Officers briefly lost track of the vehicle, but soon saw tire tracks going off the road and discovered the wreck site.
