MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The damaged Carnival Triumph was towed Friday morning from the Cruise Terminal to BAE Systems where crews will assess the damage.
The Triumph experienced a fire in the engine room Sunday. The passengers were stranded at sea for days while the Coast Guard helped bring the ship to Mobile's port.
"I want to again apologize to our guests and their friends and families. The situation on board was difficult and we are very sorry for what has happened. We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a great vacation experience and clearly we failed in this case," said Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill.
The investigation into that fire continues. The U.S. Coast Guard, National Transportation Safety Board and the Bahamas Maritime Authority are working together to figure out what happened.
