MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A district attorney says police appear to have been justified in shooting a Mobile man suspected of fatally stabbing one officer taking him to jail.

Mobile police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Levy said Saturday investigators were still working to piece together details surrounding the stabbing death Friday of Officer Steve Green. Hours
later, police shot and killed the man accused in the slaying, 24-year-old Lawrence Wallace Jr., after a standoff in which another officer was wounded by a gunshot.

The Press-Register reports that Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich says the police shooting of the suspect "appears to be justified" because the officer seems to have acted in self-defense. Still, she says she plans to let a grand jury make the final determination.

Yes indeed it was a justified shooting, this needs to happen on a regular basis by the Mobile Police Dept Officers, it would eliminate the SCUM on the streets, the necessity for a wasteful lenghty trial and end the revolving door at the metro jail, no repeat offenders under this way !! a big deturant to crime.

Dang right. IT WAS JUSTIFYABLE! That punk killed a police officer. There was even ground. "When shells are hitting all around you and you wipe the dirt off your face and realize that instead of dirt it's the blood and guts of what once was your best friend beside you, you'll know what to do"..General George S. Patton. Mrs. Rich, job was done, the punk is dead. Taxpayers money saved. Now you can go to sleep and have a good day tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the part where she was asked if the suspect was dead, and she replied that the information would be coming from the Chief of Police, then responded that she had to go speak with the officer that fired "the fatal shot"! Another wasted college degree at work in Mobile County. Hey DA, look up the definition for FATAL.
