BILOXI, Miss. (WPMI) A hit-and-run crash left one pedestrian dead early Saturday morning.
Around 2:35 a.m. Biloxi Police responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian at Highway 90 and Reynoir St. Upon arrival, officers found a white male in his 70’s lying on the ground; he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was no longer at the scene. Witnesses provided a vehicle description, a white Cadillac Escalade, and the direction it was last headed.
Police broadcasted the information; meanwhile, another witness called Biloxi Police Dispatch and reported that they were following the vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of I 10 west bound near the 41 mile marker.
The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Shumarcus Taiwain Henderson. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. Angela Marie Henderson, his wife and passenger in the vehicle, is charged with accessory after the fact.
Both were booked at the Biloxi Police Department and later transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set Shumarcus Henderson’s bond at $1,000,000 and Angela Henderson’s bond at $200,000.
