MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) There have been lots of questions surrounding the euthanization of 49 dogs at the Mobile County Animal Shelter earlier this week.
It happened after one of the dogs at the shelter came down with distemper, a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease.
Some posts on Facebook are reporting all cats at the shelter were euthanized in addition to the dogs.
On Wednesday, the county told Local 15 News that is not the case. They say all adoptable cats at the shelter prior to the distemper threat were placed with SPCA of Mobile.
"Last week we took out ten cats and six dogs," said Janine Woods with SPCA. "They are all doing very well right now and we'll have them up for adoption in probably a month, month and a half."
The shelter says no felines were euthanized in connection with the distemper case.
