MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mobile City Council members decided Tuesday morning to hold off the vote on the city's downtown entertainment district until March 5.

The ordinance would allow folks to drink legally on streets and sidewalks in some areas, but there is concern from police about enforcement and controlling underage drinking.

In the proposal, people would only be allowed to walk around with specific plastic cups with either a LODA logo or a commercially printed name of the facility it came from.

The Public Safety Committee will hold two hearings ahead of the March 5 vote: February 14 and February 19, both at 1:30 p.m., on the ninth floor of Government Plaza.

The public is invited.
