(MOBILE, Ala.) The Mobile City Council approved two measures at Tuesday's council meeting, one for road improvements and one for Mardi Gras.
The council gave the go-ahead to extend an agreement with the state on the preliminary engineering aspects of a project set to widen the road.
The widening project will add lanes to McGregor Avenue from Dauphin Street to Airport Boulevard.
Construction is expected to begin in 2015.
The federal government is paying 80 percent of the total bill. The city will pay 20 percent, which is roughly $4 million.
Also at Tuesday's meeting, the council approved a contract with United Site Services of Mississippi. LLC for Mardi Gras 2013. The contract is for more than $30,000 in portable toilets for Mardi Gras.
