(MOBILE, Ala.) — Coast Guard crews are searching for a boat crew member from the Philippines who is believed to have fallen off a container ship near the mouth of Mobile Bay.
The Coast Guard says watchstanders got a call after reports of a crew member in blue coveralls with white stripes wearing a life jacket in the water around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.
The crew member was responsible for recovering the Jacob's ladder from the ship when the pilot arrived. According to the Coast Guard, crew members on the ship reported the ladder was down and a shoe was found on the deck.
Multiple crews are currently searching for that worker, including Coast Guard air and seacraft, Mobile Police crews, and authorities from Daphne, Bon Secour, and the Alabama Department of Marine Resources.
