(MOBILE, Ala.) -- Several Mobile-area adult performers will likely be handing out money as a result from citations they received from police officers Friday during a surprise compliance check.

Mobile Police Department Narcotics and Vice Unity completed the audit at several strip clubs in the area checking for current entertainer's cards and proper coverings for performers.

The cards, according to one manager who did not want to be identified, said the cards verified the performer is of legal age to work in an adult club. The cards could only be obtained, he said, by performers with no felonies on their records who were also not on parole.

Between 4 clubs, officers issued 23 citations for not having the cards. Of them, 5 performers were not dancing with the proper coverings, a news release said.

One person was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.
