(MOBILE, Ala.) Mobile Police say Precinct 3 Captain Dewayne Hill misused a debit card meant for use by Mobile Police's Explorers Program.

Chief Micheal T. Williams says Hill used about $300 from the account beginning in August to get cash out of an ATM and to make personal purchases at Wal-Mart and an online store. The card did not belong to the city, but to a mentor of the Explorers Program. Williams says Hill was approached by internal affairs in September when the investigation began.

Chief Williams says the criminal investigation is not complete. He says Hill could still face criminal charges of theft or fraudulent use of a credit card. The Mobile Police Department will turn the investigation over to the District Attorneys Office.

Hill retired Monday. He was a 20-year veteran of the Mobile Police Department.

I'll bet a fifty that this 'officer' was promoted to Captain over others more qualified.

Captain Hill, The people of Mobile should feel safe when they see a police officer. Many men and women work long hard hours to earn the respet they deserve. What were you thinking? 20 years of service and this is how you will be remembered, $300.00, really, is that all your integrity is worth?

He stole $ and should be prosecuted and not allowed to retire. He is a man paid to enforce the law... and now stands to retire with pay while violating the public trust as his last act of 'service' to the people? This is a horrible crime against the people and he should be held accountable. Where is our Mayor? What will Sam Jones do to uphold the law. Our Chief of Police should be forced to resign for permitting this major violating of both the law and ethics of police conduct standards. SHAME!
