(COTATI, Calif.) A California organization is hoping reward money will help stop dolphin deaths along the Gulf Coast.

Dolphins from Louisiana to Dauphin Island have been found shot and mutilated.

California-based Animal Legal Defense Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Dolphins are a protected species. Violators can be fined up to $10,000 per violation and one year in prison.
