"Mobile Works" offers dollars to help pay salaries for On The Job training

(MOBILE, Ala.) July 2 -- Mobile Works, a state agency, is using state and federal money, including the ballyhooed stimulus money, to get people work by helping to pay their salary to learn a different job.

If you have a business, large or small, and you offer at least nine dollars an hour, Mobile Works will pay for half the salary while your new employee trains while on the job for up to 26 weeks depending on the job and the skills.

"It may be there's an individual who has walked through that door they are interested in hiring," says Raines. "That person may meet our requirements. All that company has to say is can we talk to you about whether the individual we're getting ready to hire meets your entrance requirements. If so, let's negotiate a contract."

They've done this several years ago. They're doing it right now with the new Ryla Call Center in Saraland. But you don't have to be a big business just someone willing to take a chance on people who want to work so much, they're willing to learn to work all over again.
