(MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.) - Graphic testimony of an alleged rape by the uncle of missing teen mom Brittney Wood was heard in a preliminary hearing Monday.
A detective presented the testimony of a girl who was 14-years-old when she was allegedly raped by Dustin Kent while another family member watched.
The victim, now 17, says Donnie Holland Sr., another uncle of Brittney, offered to take her to the pet store to buy a hamster. Instead, prosecutors say Holland drove to Kent’s workplace, picked him up, then drove to a secluded area off of Rangeline Road.
“There are streets back there but nothing was ever developed so there aren’t any buildings or lights,” Assistant D.A. Nicki Patterson told Local 15. “While [Holland] watched, Mr. Kent engaged in raping the child.”
A number of incest and rape charges have been brought not only against Kent, but other male relatives of Brittney, including her own brother.
“From the evidence I have seen, this is sort of a collection of pedophiles,” Patterson said.
Patterson said it all unraveled when the victims started coming forward, supporting and encouraging each other.
“These kids have come forward under tremendously adverse circumstances,” Patterson said.
Holland committed suicide around the time Brittney disappeared, and shortly before the arrests began. Patterson declined to speculate whether any of the cases are believed to be connected to Brittney’s disappearance.
