(CITRONELLE, Ala.) July 16 - Brandon Newburn, 24, is charged with the murder of a Mt. Vernon man. The body of Chuck Black, 38, was found in Citronelle Thursday. As NBC 15's Andrea Ramey reports, investigators believe Newburn's motive was robbery.
When Black didn't return home Saturday night from Betty Joe's Lounge in Citronelle, his family went there and found his truck and keys in the parking lot. They filed a missing persons report on Sunday, and since then, the investigation has taken police to a shallow grave in a remote wooded area in Citronelle.
According to court records Newburn was trying to steal Black's money. Records state that Newburn also stabbed Black. Newburn is charged with robbery and murder.
Newburn is expected to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
Newburn has a history of burglary and assault charges.
