BILOXI, Miss. (AP) The standard 1,740 guest rooms are now non-smoking at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.
The Sun Herald reports that those staying in the 95 suites still have the choice to smoke.
Resort spokeswoman Mary Cracchiolo-Spain says Beau Rivage adopted the policy in December.
Groups who advocate non-smoking have repeatedly asked the Biloxi City Council to ban smoking in restaurants and casinos. The council has allowed business owners to create their own policy.
Cracchiolo-Spain says the gourmet restaurants, including BR Prime, Stalla, Jia, Memphis Q and Coast, all have small smoking sections. Other restaurants are smoke-free.
Smoking is allowed on most of the casino floor but is not allowed in the area next to the poker room in the southeast corner of the casino floor.
