(GULF SHORES, Ala.) May 6 - A prep school in Baldwin County will close its doors at the end of the year.
Schools officials say the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Gulf Shores is shutting down due to the economic downturn.
The academy is the third school in Baldwin County to close, but it is the first private school in the county to close it's doors.
In April, the Baldwin County school board voted to close the Baldwin County Alternative School in Fairhope and Vaughn Elementary in Stockton.
The Academy of Arts and Sciences has been open since 2004.
