BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) A Baldwin County corrections officer was arrested on sexual misconduct charges.
Twenty-nine-year-old Racheen Migael Cox is charged with custodial sexual misconduct and harassing communications. He was arrested Tuesday but has since been released.
Baldwin County Sheriff's investigators say they arrested Cox Wednesday after a female inmate booked on a misdemeanor charge, complained that she was being sexually harassed by Cox.
Investigators wouldn't divulge details on the sexual misconduct, but say it occurred inside the booking area of the jail. Then after the woman made bail, investigators say Cox continued the communication with several harassing and sexual phone calls.
"This is unacceptable behavior by anyone put in position of public trust and this individual violated that public trust, so we took swift action and brought it to a culmination quickly," said Capt. Steve Arthur, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.
Cox has been with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office for seven years.
He's now on suspension from duty pending the investigating and a trial.
