BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The 2013 Baldwin County Public Schools Teacher of the Year for elementary and secondary have been announced.
Superintendent, Dr. Alan T. Lee, said "It is with great pleasure and honor that I announce that Robert McKillion, Digital Resource Advisor, Daphne High School, is our secondary Teacher of the Year and Ashley McPhillips, J. Larry Newton School, Fairhope, is our elementary Teacher of the Year.
"Both Mr. McKillion and Ms. McPhillips are veteran educators who are exceptional in every way and they especially love students. We offer our hearty congratulations. They are most deserving," Dr. Lee said.
Ms. McPhillips has 17 years teaching experience with seven of those years here in Baldwin County. She has her masters in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama.
Mr. McKillion has taught at Daphne High School since 1998. McKillion is part of the faculty at Daphne High School that garnered the 2012-13 United States Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Award.
Both were presented the award earlier today.
