ATMORE, Ala. - An Atmore teen was arrested Monday after sheriff's deputies said she tried to set an occupied trailer home on fire.

17-year-old Alexis Thomas was charged with attempted murder and attempted arson. Thomas remains at  Escambia County Detention Center on $30,000 bond Wednesday.

witness told Local 15 News she heard shouting and arguing from Thomas's trailer home in the 500 block of James Road. She said moments later sheriff's deputies and firefighters swarmed the area, blocking off James Road.

A spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said Thomas was upset about a battery missing from her cellular phone, and threatened to burn the house down.

Officials said that is when Thomas doused the home in gasoline, but she ran off before lighting the house on fire.  Deputies later arrested Thomas in the neighborhood.

Officials said there were others inside the home, including a 2-year-old child, but nobody was harmed in the incident.

At the point where the 'teen,' as this station calls her, began to douse the trailer with gasoline was the point at which the teen should have been put down. Apparently those particular trailer owners lack firearms.
