ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - City officials in Athens are inviting residents to a series of community meetings to help plan the city's future.
The three meetings will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. City Planner Mac Martin says officials want feedback from residents as they work on a development plan to organize growth in Athens over the next 10 to 20 years.
Athens officials also posted an online survey seeking comment from constituents. City spokeswoman Holly Hollman says about 460 people filled out the surveys, which asked questions such as how citizens would prioritize spending on issues such as public safety, recreation and education.
