(MOBILE, Ala.) - The arrival of Airbus in Mobile, will have a huge impact on unemployment in our area according to Moody's Investor Service.
The city's unemployment rate could dip by almost 2 percent during construction of the new assembly plant. That rate is currently around 8.9%.
Airbus's rival Boeing, built an assembly plant in South Carolina that employs 5,000 people.
Since the plant opened, there has been an influx of suppliers that have also made large investments in the area. Similar spin-off growth is expected to benefit Mobile.
