(DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala.) - Looking for a break from the grind of rehearsals, the contestants in the America's Junior Miss Pageant went where a lot of people go to get away - the beach.
All 50 ladies headed out to Dauphin Island, Sunday, for some rest and relaxation. They've been rehearsing for the pageant since they arrived a week ago. The ladies participated in a sandcastle building contest and boiled shrimp.
For some of the girls, the beach was a welcome sight.
"It's really great! It's my first time at beach because Iowa's landlocked," Nadia Hlebowitsh, the Junior Miss Iowa said, "We had really good time together, staying cool today."
Monday, the ladies will head to Wintzell's for an oyster-eating contest. Last year, Miss Maryland set the record.
