MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) - The American Red Cross is unveiling a new vehicle to help in emergencies and help themselves.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Chapter is one of two dozen chapters testing the new vehicles.

The redesigned vehicle will provide help, hope, and comfort to people in need after disasters.

"From a single family fire to larger disasters. If we need to go out and feed 500 people from this vehicle, how is it going to act and what do we need to change to make it the best it can be to serve those people," said Elizabeth Saunders, American Red Cross.

The Red Cross expects to replace its current fleet of response vehicles over the next decade.

The organization says it will save millions by the switch.
