MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA/WPMI) - While many folks flood gun shows in fear of tougher gun laws, the U.S. Attorney in Alabama's Middle District believes the president's plan is comprehensive.
George Beck said he supports one of the most talked about proposals of adding mental health records to background checks, and also is pleased to see the proposal include gun tracking.
"We need to know the source, straw buyer or black market," Beck said, "This is not a ban on weapons, making gun ownership safe, making it harder for criminals to get the weapons protecting 2nd Amendment rights."
Despite support from the Department of Justice, Alabama's congressional delegation expressed explicit opposition to President Obama's gun control proposals.
