MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Alabama Senate passed a bill to allow the Mobile County Board of Education to arm school resource officers and security personnel.

The bill, proposed by Senator Rusty Glover, would not force the board to arm employees, but it would give that option.

Officers used to be able to do so in Mobile County until the State Board of Education banned the practice.

The bill now goes to the House of Representatives.
